Journalist, food blogger, gourmet, judge, and event's organizer: Marco Gemelli is one of the most versatile characters in Tuscany's food and wine landscape.
Born in southern Italy in 1978, he has called Tuscany 'home' for more than 20 years.
A professional Italian journalist since 2007, his career has transformed from traditional paths to freelance, working in both Italian and English.

Earlier in his career, he worked as editor for the daily newspaper Il Giornale della Toscana, covering news, economics, politics, tourism, fashion, and lifestyle stories. Today, his freelance work in Italian includes several newspapers, both online and offline, as well as Viaggi del Gusto or Il Giornale in the food and wine field.
In English he writes for four Tuscan magazines – Florence is You, Toscana & Chianti News, Florence Daily News, and Turista Luxury – all aimed at an international audience, offering them the opportunity to discover heroes of the gastronomic world and the excellence on offer in Italian regions.
Moreover, Marco Gemelli is the founder of the 'Forchettiere' blog - - among the most read in Tuscany.

In the ongoing struggle between the world of journalism and blogging, Marco says, "I think it's possible to be in a hybrid situation marrying the best of both fields.
"As a journalist, I am required to verify the sources, to keep a definite distinction between information and communication, to stay loyal to readers. On the other hand, as a blogger I can use language and codes closer to expressions used in contemporary communication. I like to tell the stories behind dishes, wines, and restaurants. I think Italy, generally, and Tuscany in particular, is rich with tales waiting to be discovered and brought to the reader".
As evidence of Marco's recognized reputation in the world of food and wine journalism, in recent years he participated in several regional, national, and international juries in the field of agronomic products of excellence.

Similarly, he has organised juries of experts – journalists, bloggers, chefs, restaurateurs, and nutritionists - for prizes associated with some of the most respectable gastronomic companies.
He has also organised exhibits and contests involving high-level chefs, as well as 'Chocolate Chef' during the annual Artisanal Chocolate Fair in Florence each February.
As a journalist, he has held a chair on the Board of ASET (Association of Tuscan wine & food journalists) since 2014. He is also press officer for Villa 'La Ferdinanda' in Artimino (Tuscany), a UNESCO World Heritage Site, as well as one of Modena's balsamic vinegar companies.
As he has done for the whole of his time in Tuscany, he often meets champions of Italian restaurants and other journalists with whom he has built a solid network of professional relationships.
"This work could be more that 24 hours a day, if you let it," Marco says. "But I like it too much to think of changing to something different. I love it even when it means having to taste 70 wines in one morning, or 32 different portions as a judge in the afternoon."
