article FICO Eataly.pasta

Have you ever wondered where bread comes from? What are the different grains used in different styles of bread? When and how do you plant seeds? What's the difference between white flour and brown flour?

FICO Eataly World is the only place where you can witness all the phases of the main food production chains, from raw ingredients to the final product. And the countdown to its opening has begun: the world's largest agri-food park will open in Bologna, Italy on November 15th, 2017.
Covering an area of 100,000 square meters, FICO Eataly World is Heaven on Earth for food lovers and gourmets of all around the globe.
FICO stands for Fabbrica Italiana Contadina, or Italian Farming Factory. Through the expertise of those who have always been working in the agri-food industry, FICO speaks to the importance of the origin of Italian produce, with the idea that there is history behind every piece of food.

Featuring 2 hectares of open-air fields and stables, housing 2,000 cultivars and 200 animals, 40 food factories showing how traditional Italian food products are processed, and more than 40 traditional Italian restaurants offering Italian excellence from field to fork, you'll find more than one thing to interest you. With food options that range from starred restaurants, trattorias, bistros, and street-food kiosks, you won't go hungry either.
The options for people visiting FICO Eataly World don't end here. Individuals, groups, business visitors, children and families will be entertained with daily hands-on tours and classes, six educational tours — themed after fire, earth, sea, animals, bottled goods, and the future — areas dedicated to sports and children, theatre and cinema facilities, a library, and a conference centre accommodating from 50 to 1000 people. Finally, an extended area of around 9,000 square meters will house an organic market and traditional craft stores.

In addition to learning the history of Italian food and traditions, visitors will also be able to gather information from the FICO Foundation for Food Education and Sustainability to further understand the importance of avoiding food waste.

'Our vision is of an immense and joyous place where everyone can discover Italy's great heritage,' said Tiziana Primori, CEO of FICO Eataly World. 'All over the world, Italy is known as a unique place in terms of food variety, culture, tradition and biodiversity. We wanted to bring the excellence of Italian food and wines, and the beauty of the Italian agri-food industry to everyone. It's a real agricultural, culinary, and educational park that wants to further connect the world through food from the various regions of Italy.'

FICO Eataly World aims at becoming the reference point as the place to learn about Italian food and wines, the meeting place for all those who love food and wish to discover its secrets and traditions, on the lookout for information and unique experiences.
Did we mention that entrance is free? We look forward to welcoming you to our new world!
